Caleb University appoints Adeboye’s wife as Chancellor

The management of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, has approved the appointment of Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, as Chancellor. The university confirmed the appointment in a statement issued on Monday by its Information, Media and Publication Specialist, Olawale Adekoya. Adeboye will replace a former federal commissioner for information and Niger Delta leader, Chief Edwin Clark, who died last year, as the University's ceremonial head. She was conferred with an honorary Doctor of Humanity (Honoris Causa) at the university’s 15th convocation ceremony held last Wednesday in Imota. With this appointment, the preacher, affectionately called “Mummy G.O.” by her teeming admirers, will preside over convocations and, confer degrees during the events. In his remark, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, described the appointment as significant for its development. On his part, the institution’s Registrar, said the entire community was honoured to have Adeboye as Chancellor. He described the new Chancellor as “a guardian of values, and a steady moral compass in turbulent times.” “The conferment and subsequent appointment of the globally revered cleric, fondly known as Mummy G.O., signal what observers have described as “a convergence of scholarship and sanctity” — a rare alignment of intellectual excellence and spiritual authority at the summit of university governance,” the statement read.
