Former director demands ECOWAS reform at Caleb University webinar
Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, on September 15, 2025 held a webinar series to discuss the impact of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in the last 50 years.
The webinar titled: "ECOWAS at 50: Strengthening the Bond for the Vision," featured a former Director of the West African bloc, Prof. Aderemi Ajibewa, as guest speaker.
He spoke on the challenges that had hampered the bloc since its establishment on May 28, 1975 and its future aspiration.
The university don called for reform of the sub-regional body to improve the living standards of its people, the majority of whom belong to one of the world’s worst poverty-stricken belts.
The forum featured participants from within the university community and beyond.
