- Understand living systems. Explain biological processes from molecules and cells to organisms and ecosystems.
- Apply biotechnology. Use molecular and cellular techniques in genetics, microbiology, and bioprocessing.
- Work in the laboratory. Conduct biological experiments and microbiological procedures safely and precisely.
- Analyse biological data. Apply statistical and bioinformatics tools to interpret experimental and genomic data.
- Innovate for impact. Apply biotechnology to problems in health, agriculture, environment, and industry.
- Communicate science. Report findings and assess the ethical and societal implications of biotechnology.

How you'll be assessed.
Laboratory & practical work
Laboratory practicals, reports, and a final-year research project are assessed alongside written examinations.
External examiners
In line with NUC requirements, qualified academics from other universities moderate examinations and assess final-year projects.
NUC CCMAS compliance
Assessment follows the National Universities Commission's Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards for the discipline.
