  • Study justice systems. Examine policing, courts, corrections, and the wider criminal-justice process.
  • Manage conflict and peace. Apply conflict-resolution, mediation, and peace-building approaches to real disputes.
  • Assess security threats. Evaluate threats and design evidence-based security and crime-prevention strategies.
  • Conduct social research. Design and carry out empirical research on crime, conflict, and security.
  • Engage policy and ethics. Relate findings to policy and to the human-rights dimensions of security work.
VI. Assessment

How you'll be assessed.

Continuous assessment & examinations

Each course combines continuous assessment - assignments, tests, and class work - with an end-of-semester examination; weights and formats are set in each course outline.

Field research & project

Empirical research exercises and a final-year project complement written examinations.

External examiners

In line with NUC requirements, qualified academics from other universities moderate examinations and assess final-year projects.

NUC CCMAS compliance

Assessment follows the National Universities Commission's Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards for the discipline.
