What you'll be able to do.

Graduates leave equipped with the foundational rigour and the practical skills the field demands.

  • Secure systems and networks. Design, configure, and defend networks, systems, and applications against attack.
  • Identify and assess threats. Detect vulnerabilities, model threats, and conduct security risk assessments.
  • Apply cryptography. Select and apply cryptographic methods correctly to protect data in transit and at rest.
  • Respond to incidents. Investigate breaches, perform digital forensics, and lead incident response.
  • Govern security. Apply security policy, standards, and compliance frameworks within organisations.
  • Practise ethical security. Conduct security testing lawfully and uphold professional and ethical standards.

How you'll be assessed.

Continuous assessment & examinations

Each course combines continuous assessment - assignments, tests, and class work - with an end-of-semester examination; weights and formats are set in each course outline.

Labs, projects & assessments

Hands-on security labs, practical exercises, and a project are assessed alongside written work.

External examiners

In line with NUC requirements, qualified academics from other universities moderate examinations and assess final-year projects.

NUC CCMAS compliance

Assessment follows the National Universities Commission's Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards for the discipline.
