Graduates leave equipped with the foundational rigour and the practical skills the field demands.

  • Report the news. Research, verify, and write news stories across print, broadcast, and digital media.
  • Investigate and interview. Apply investigative methods and conduct effective interviews to uncover facts.
  • Produce multimedia. Create written, audio, visual, and online content for diverse audiences.
  • Analyse media and society. Examine the role of media in democracy, culture, and public opinion.
  • Edit and curate. Edit copy and curate content to professional editorial standards.
  • Practise media ethics and law. Apply journalism ethics and media law to professional decisions.
VI. Assessment

How you'll be assessed.

Continuous assessment & examinations

Each course combines continuous assessment - assignments, tests, and class work - with an end-of-semester examination; weights and formats are set in each course outline.

Production portfolio

Published stories, multimedia projects, and a portfolio of work are assessed alongside written coursework.

External examiners

In line with NUC requirements, qualified academics from other universities moderate examinations and assess final-year projects.

NUC CCMAS compliance

Assessment follows the National Universities Commission's Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards for the discipline.
