PREAMBLE.
Nigeria’s growing demand for university education continues to exceed available admission spaces, leaving a significant proportion of qualified candidates without access to higher education annually. In response to this national need, the Federal Government approved the establishment of private universities to complement public institutions and expand opportunities for academic advancement. It was within this context that Caleb University was founded by its visionary proprietor, Dr. Oladega Adelowo Adebogun, whose passion was to nurture graduates distinguished not only by professional competence but also by impeccable character.
Following the grant of an operational license by the National Universities Commission on May 17, 2007, the University commenced academic activities in January 2008, welcoming pioneer students and formally inaugurating its academic journey with its maiden matriculation ceremony in February of the same year. Academic operations took off from its approved take-off site on Ikosi GRA, off CMD Road and later moved to the 110-hectare permanent site on KM 15, Ikorodu-Itokin Road, Imota, Lagos, in November 2009. Guided by its motto, “For God and Humanity”, Caleb University was conceived as an institution anchored on Christian values, academic excellence, and societal relevance, committed to broadening access to quality university education while shaping morally grounded leaders for Nigeria and the global community.

The University began operations at its Magodo take-off campus before relocating in November 2009 to its expansive 110-hectare permanent site in Imota, Lagos—an environment that offers a serene and stimulating setting for teaching, research, and holistic student development.
Structured around a collegiate system, the University hosts a diverse range of accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes designed to meet global standards and respond to emerging societal and industry needs. Its academic architecture spans specialized colleges, including Arts, Social and Management Sciences; Pure and Applied Sciences; Environmental Sciences and Management; Law; Education; Health Sciences; Postgraduate Studies; the Caleb Business School; as well as newly established colleges in Communication and Media Studies and Computing and Information Management. The University’s governance framework operates through a three-tier management structure, which has produced fifteen (15) sets of graduates who have progressed into professional careers and national service, reinforcing its reputation for quality and relevance.

Anchored in God’s enduring faithfulness, and inspired by the assurance of Hebrews 13:5 that He will never leave nor forsake us and Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, the institution draws strength from Christ in its pursuit of excellence. In this unique blend of faith, knowledge, and purpose, Caleb University remains devoted to shaping transformative leaders equipped to make meaningful contributions to society and the knowledge economy.
